Food Diet For Your Child’s Better Sleep

Putting your baby to sleep is perhaps one of the toughest tasks you need to accomplish every day. Babies wake up often every night and find it difficult to sleep at a stretch. This also affects your health as you need to stay up with your baby and help him feel better.

Here are nine foods that may help your kiddo get some quality and restful sleep.

#1 Oats

Oatmeal is nutritious food extremely healthy for both babies and adults. But here’s the best part: it is also an excellent source of melatonin which helps trigger insulin production. Insulin, in turn, helps in inducing sleep.

#2 Banana

Bananas are high in serotonin and melatonin, which help to support good health and encourage sleep. They are high on magnesium also and have a calming effect on the body.

#3 Sweet Potato

Sweet potato is high in potassium, which can help to overcome sleep deprivation. Potassium helps the body to calm down and balance the electrolytes to keep muscles relaxed at night while sleeping.

#4 Chicken/ Egg

Chicken contains high levels of tryptophan. And as we discussed, this amino acid will make your baby sleepy post-dinner! Needless to say, chicken / Egg will also take care of the protein requirements of your baby.

#5 Cherries

Cherries are great for your baby’s dinner, they are replete with melatonin, the sleep hormone! They are also quite delicious which means your baby is likelier to accept them easily.

#6 Rice

Rice is lighter than most carbs, rice not only helps your kids fall asleep faster but encourages a deeper one too.

#7 Walnut

Walnuts help the body in the production of serotonin – a chemical that soothes the brain and affects the mood of a person, making them more relaxed. This helps them sleep better and longer.

#8 Dairy Product

Dairy products like milk, cheese, and paneer are also packed with tryptophan. Milk during the night is the best idea.

#9 Chick Peas

Chick Peas are high in protein as well as tryptophan and hence a great sleep promoter. But apart from high protein content, chickpeas are also high in iron, potassium, fiber, and vitamins K, C, and B-6. This makes them a great, nutritious dinner food.

Bonus Tip

This natural sweetener helps with the release of melatonin and reduces orexin and, is best for sleep.
