WhatsApp has been the most popular messaging app with over two billion monthly active users globally. 1.6 billion WhatsApp users access the app on a monthly basis. WhatsApp is very popular in India and is the biggest market with around 340 million Indian users. If we talk about Signal, it is a cross-platform encrypted messaging service developed by the Signal Foundation and Signal Messenger LLC. It uses the Internet to send one-to-one and group messages, which can include files, voice notes, images and videos. Now, Signal is ready to overtake Whatsapp in India as users are not happy with its new privacy policy that is being imposed on them else failure to do so will cause them to lose their account.

The Signal Foundation’s flagship Signal app provides fully-fledged and comfortable to use secure communications as its main power. Signal says that it is seeing a number of new users signing up for the platform, and is receiving floods of signing requests that the company is seeing delays in phone number verifications of new accounts across multiple cell providers. Singal is a nonprofit foundation that has now generated a hike in the number of installations of the app. If we talk about the main reason that is responsible for generating interest in a number of people in trying the new platform are mainly the two reasons first because of Tesla CEO Elon Musk and the other being Signal competitor WhatsApp.¬†Signal and Telegram are witnessing a sudden increase in demand due to the rivals of whatsapp as they are now imposing their new privacy policy.¬†

WhatsApp uses Signal’s encryption technology, and has now updated its fresh terms on Wednesday, asking its users to agree to let owner Facebook Inc and its subsidiaries collect user data, including their phone number and location. Tesla owner Elon Musk has signalled by asking people to use ‘Signal’ app as it is one of the best online chatting application to use. Elon Musk has now become the richest man in the world by surpassing Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos. He recently tweeted a meme last night criticising Facebook for its role in helping members of the mob that stormed the US Capital on Wednesday organise online. Tesla founder Elon Musk in a tweet asked his followers to try Signal.

The best part about Signal is that it is generating a lot of interest for its platform as both a viable mobile messaging app and alternative to the Facebook ecosystem, which includes WhatsApp and Instagram. It has now already climbed to the number one spot.

More than 100,000 users installed Signal across the app stores of Apple and Google in the last two days, while Telegram picked up nearly 2.2 million downloads, according to data analytics firm Sensor Tower. “New installs of WhatsApp fell 11% in the first seven days of 2021 compared with the prior week, but that still amounted to an estimated 10.5 million downloads globally,” Sensor Tower said. The Signal private messaging app is available on iOS, Android, Windows, Linux, and Mac.
